Before we packed up for summer, we wanted to share some data as a way to reflect on a successful year in our brand-new library space.

Our library friends in second grade were the top "checker-outers." Each boy in second grade took out an average of 39 books over the school year! That's incredible! 2B really showed their love of books with 1,014 total circulations! They checked out 154 more books than their closest competition, 3B. Wow!

We also saw evidence for something we suspected all year: Upper School boys don't check out nearly as many books as the Lower School boys. This could be due to the fact they are reading longer books, but still, we miss our Upper Schoolers! We have some ideas for increasing Upper School average checkouts next year, including hosting after-school Study Hall, which will keep the library open an extra hour.

As for the top books for the year, it was no surprise that Greg dominated! Diary of a Wimpy Kid was the top choice, holding 5 spots in the top 10. The Wimpy Kid series really gets our school excited about reading.

It seems like with the popularity of the Wimpy Kid books, many of our boys are counting down the days until the November 3rd release of the newest one, Old School. Unfortunately, it's only June. For fans stuck without new material, Jeff Kinney created the Wimpy Kid YouTube channel at Ms. Stuart, a big Wimpy Kid fan, is definitely checking it out.

Hope you have a restful summer and see you soon in the library!
