The 2nd grade has been doing some exciting work around social justice and how to bring about change. Their learning is centered on their own San Francisco community.

First, they did some preliminary research on Change-Makers past and present:

After brainstorming, they decided to focus their own Change-Maker efforts around homelessness in San Francisco. Since Town School has connections to GLIDE through our Families program's long tradition of supplying bagged lunches to GLIDE's daily free meal program, we examined their website and watched some videos to learn about their mission and values.

As we examined the website, we talked about how important it is to look at the About page of websites! We want to make sure we are looking at trustworthy sites full of reliable information.  We also talked about how important it is to support community organizations like GLIDE because they rely on us for support and we rely on them to help our community!
