The Town School Library provides access to many paid databases and research resources to help you find quality information. Always start with Town resources, which are vetted and paid for by Town! 

Grades K–4: Use Town Resources (scroll down)

• K–4 students should conduct research using Town School Library resources and should not independently search the open internet.

• If using the open internet, teachers should consult a librarian (library@townschool.com) and/or supervisor and must preview and approve every individual link or resource before students use it.

• Resources should be credited using NAP, Town’s modified citation style for younger students.

Grades 5–8: Start with Town Resources (scroll down)

• All research should start with Town School Library resources. Students should be taught to search the open internet using lateral reading, a strategy for checking and comparing information across multiple sources.

• All research should be documented in MLA style and include a Works Cited or bibliography, using MyBib.

Remember to cite images, audio, and video, too! Even when a resource gives permission to use its materials, credit the creators. All Upper School research should be documented in MLA style and include a Works Cited or bibliography, using MyBib.
